Brown University Queer Alliance

The Gay Liberation group became an official campus organization on December 17, 1970. The group evolved and took various forms over time in response to a changing political landscape. Notably, women of the Brown Gay Liberation group separated and formed their own group, Gay Women at Brown, for a time in the mid-1970s.
In 2003, the group, which has expanded to become more inclusive of bisexual and transgender people, changed its name to the Queer Alliance, which is the current student group name.
The Queer Alliance continues to be a student-run organization to promote the LGBTQIA+ community. Currently, we hold monthly meetings, organize social events, and host identity-based discussions.
